Conventions are rules that allows genres to differentiate from each other. For example a convention of the Horror genre is having scary and eerie music, which helps create an atmosphere. By hearing this, the audience would instantly be able to establish the genre of the movie. However conventions can be followed of broken or followed. Some people may break conventions because they would like to experiment, or they may want to make a pointy about a certain situation. This would normally be a reflection on the society at that time. As the audience are watching something they would have expectations, of they are watching these expectations are met buy using conventions, of that certain genre that they are working in. For example if they are watching a horror movie they would expect to be scared or frightened, if that doesn't happen then their expectations have not been met. Throughout the 2 years I have studied media at A Levels, I have learnt the importance of the skills of research and  planning, as it allowed me to expand my knowledge and understanding, which enabled me to become more creative. After creating the tasks I was set to create, which was my AS music magazine and A2 horror teaser trailer, I have learnt that conventions are vital when creating products. The conventions allow the genre of your product to be established, as conventions are used to make the product recognisable to the audience. My AS preliminary task was unsuccessful. Without Technology people would not be able to create or produce most the work, that they have thought about. During this post-modern age that we are currently living in, we rely on Digital technology, due to the fact mostly everything now is on a device. For example, during the creation of my AS coursework, we used cameras, and computers to help produce our work. On the computers we used software’s such as Photoshop and adobe in design to create our work. As were currently living in a society where people use social media and technological devises in their everyday lives, people have been able to create social media accounts and express their selves through there, by uploading pictures or sharing their opinions on certain topics.
