Creativity Summary - 500 words

Without Technology people would not be able to create or produce most the work, that they have thought about. During this post-modern age that we are currently living in, we rely on Digital technology, due to the fact mostly everything now is on a device. For example, during the creation of my AS coursework, we used cameras, and computers to help produce our work. On the computers we used software’s such as Photoshop and adobe in design to create our work. As were currently living in a society where people use social media and technological devises in their everyday lives, people have been able to create social media accounts and express their selves through there, by uploading pictures or sharing their opinions on certain topics.

Intertextuality is a major consideration in creativity. As we are living is a post modern age, intertextuality is becoming more common in media text. People are able to sample other peoples work, and adapt it, which then becomes a new production. For example, the two animated series ‘Family Guy’ and ‘The Simpsons’ are both very similar and attract the same type of audience. This is because the two series have both taken ideas similar ideas, or maybe even taken ideas from each other and adapted it, to make their own productions.

Creativity doesn’t always have to be original. The majority of the artist and music producer’s productions are sampled from music created in the past. For example, the song ‘I like it’ by DeBarge has been a sample by dozens of artist to create popular songs, such as ‘You Like It’ by Omarion and ‘My Place’ by Nelly. How ever they are able to add their own ideas to the song and remix it. This is making them creative as their song wasn’t created before they created it. Another example for this point would be the story of Cinderella. This story has been made into a movie multiple times, by different people, however they interpreted it in different ways and added their own ideas. Every time the story was remade into a movie, the character of Cinderella would be changed to fit the society during the time. In the latest Cinderella created, the character of Cinderella became more independent and courageous. This is a reflection in todays post-modern society as women s roles are changing.

The act of production is being creative, as you are able to produce something which is being creative. People normally base creativity on being unique and creating something that has never been created before, or using your imagination. However, if someone has produced something that has never been created before then you are creative. For example, in my AS course work, I used the same template as another magazine but, I was still being creative as I enhanced my own ideas, into my production. E.g. Taking my own photos or changing the font, and colours, which made me creative.

In conclusion, through studying media, and being given the opportunity to produce my own Music magazine and Horror Teaser Trailer, I have developed as a Post-Modern Media Producer. This is due to my ability on being able to use digital technology to create my projects. Through this I was able to intertextually take ideas from others and enhance my own into them, to create a successful product. However even though my products were not original, I was to able to be creative by producing my own work, which has never been made before.

Digital Media Technology - Essay

Digital Media Technology refers to the audio, picture and video content that has been digitally, compressed. It can then be used and manipulated by computers, and transmitted over networks. Examples of digital media technology are software’s, digital images, video, video games and web pages and social media. During the post modern times that we are currently living in, digital media technology is very important in terms of creativity. While creating my AS music magazine, I invested time into experimentation, as I wanted to explore the different types of colour schemes, that would be used in my magazine. While creating my horror trailer, we realised that people use horror movies for hyper reality purposes, as it allows them to get away fro, reality. Having access to social media while creating my music magazine, benefitted me as it allowed me to see how grime artist, such as Chipmunk and Stormy, present their selves. Digital technology has a bid impact when it came to the post prod...

Week 2 - Homework prep Task 3.

The film uses different subgenres of horror; for example it uses splatter, monster, j horror psychological and slasher. J horror is used in an interesting way, as it shows he difference between the American system and the Japanese system, as it tries to convey that the Japanese people are able to resolve their problems and go back to being peaceful, whereas the Americans are unable to resolve their problems which makes the society corrupt. The props and items were used in an interesting way as they had symbolic meanings, for example the items that all the characters picked up were symbolic of their death, as we were showed towards the end when the 2 characters were in the cube and the ballerina and the man holding the item they both picked up, symbolised the way that they were meant to die. A convention that the film used in an interesting way is the characters. There were typical characters such as the prostitute, the virgin, the scholar, the fool and the athlete. In this cas...

General definition, information  –  The BBFC and PEGI are the two organisations who certificate and rate media products. The BBFC are an non-government regulatory body to which films are submitted for classification based on their content. PEGI used descriptors that are placed on the back of the video games packaging. These descriptors explain the main reason behind why games have been given a particular age rating. Specific points/debates  However this role means that we have to place our trust in these organisations as we, the audience, rely upon them to make the decision of what we should and shouldn’t be subjected to in media products.  Problems are faced by these gatekeepers when it comes to media that they are unable to regulate.  Thesis statement  Although these regulatory bodies are in place there are problems with the systems that prevent them from being used as a means of protection, for the public, from the media.  For e...
