Digital Media Technology - Essay

Digital Media Technology refers to the audio, picture and video content that has been digitally, compressed. It can then be used and manipulated by computers, and transmitted over networks. Examples of digital media technology are software’s, digital images, video, video games and web pages and social media. During the post modern times that we are currently living in, digital media technology is very important in terms of creativity. While creating my AS music magazine, I invested time into experimentation, as I wanted to explore the different types of colour schemes, that would be used in my magazine. While creating my horror trailer, we realised that people use horror movies for hyper reality purposes, as it allows them to get away fro, reality. Having access to social media while creating my music magazine, benefitted me as it allowed me to see how grime artist, such as Chipmunk and Stormy, present their selves. Digital technology has a bid impact when it came to the post prod...

Real Media Text Essay - Creativity

Conventions are rules that allows genres to differentiate from each other. For example a convention of the Horror genre is having scary and eerie music, which helps create an atmosphere. By hearing this, the audience would instantly be able to establish the genre of the movie. However conventions can be followed of broken or followed. Some people may break conventions because they would like to experiment, or they may want to make a pointy about a certain situation. This would normally be a reflection on the society at that time. As the audience are watching something they would have expectations, of they are watching these expectations are met buy using conventions, of that certain genre that they are working in. For example if they are watching a horror movie they would expect to be scared or frightened, if that doesn't happen then their expectations have not been met. In AS, my brief was to create a music magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread, that was of ...

Research & Planning Essay - Creativity

Throughout the 2 years I have studied media at A Levels, I have learnt the importance of the skills of research and  planning, as it allowed me to expand my knowledge and understanding, which enabled me to become more creative. After creating the tasks I was set to create, which was my AS music magazine and A2 horror teaser trailer, I have learnt that conventions are vital when creating products. The conventions allow the genre of your product to be established, as conventions are used to make the product recognisable to the audience. My AS preliminary task was unsuccessful. This is due to the fact that I was not given anytime to plan or research about the type of magazine I was being asked to create. I had to create the magazine based of the minimal knowledge I had, which included, the structure of the magazine. Due to the fact that I was unable to research, I had difficulties adding conventions. The genre of my work was a college magazine and I was unable to look at examples. I...

Creativity Summary - 500 words

Without Technology people would not be able to create or produce most the work, that they have thought about. During this post-modern age that we are currently living in, we rely on Digital technology, due to the fact mostly everything now is on a device. For example, during the creation of my AS coursework, we used cameras, and computers to help produce our work. On the computers we used software’s such as Photoshop and adobe in design to create our work. As were currently living in a society where people use social media and technological devises in their everyday lives, people have been able to create social media accounts and express their selves through there, by uploading pictures or sharing their opinions on certain topics. Intertextuality is a major consideration in creativity. As we are living is a post modern age, intertextuality is becoming more common in media text. People are able to sample other peoples work, and adapt it, which then becomes a new production. For exa...

Media Language Essay

Horror films use established signs and codes in their conventions to signify a deeper meaning. For example written codes such as the masthead would connote the genre of the movie or product. In my horror trailer the weapons and stock characters, which are both parts of the mise-en-scene that comes under symbolic codes. Theorist Roland Barthes makes a distinction between Denotatin and Connotation, which allow people to introduce the content and then also go into detail. Symbolic codes help with the subtext of the trailer. As they are a form of NVC. for example in Insidious: The Last Key, the antagonists finger tips are keys, this is also used as a weapon. The use of the keys signifies secrecy or confinement. In our A2 media trailer the antagonist weapon, which are claws, have anphallic symbolism. This connotes the masculine power men have, also showing that men are the dominating sex. Technical codes such as the camera work allow the viewers to have a visual understanding of the tra...

Audience Essay

The aim of our project was to create a horror teaser trailer. The name of our trailer is ‘Shinigami’, which is about teenagers who trespass on someone else’s property and they are then chased by the antagonist. Our trailer explores the themes Good vs Evil and team punishment. Our target audience are teenagers and young adults between the ages 16-24. We chose this age as they attend the cinemas the most and they are the main horror fans. There are a selection of reasons, as to why the audience would watch horror movies. This may be due to the thrill and excitement that they received, to divert their attention away from the real world, and to express their emotions. The two different types of audience theorists are the Mass Audience  theorist, who believe that everyone reacts to the media in the same way. And the Active Audience who argue that media texts are polysemic and everyone can interpret media text in different ways. The Hypodermic model supports the Mass Audience theorist,...
